New Tudor Monte Carlo
The Poor Man's Newman Daytona Is Back!
In the world of Rolex collecting, the one Tudor that has garnered the most attention throughout the years is the Monte Carlo chronograph. Good movement, Rolex finish, and unbelievably great looks. It is (very) affectionately known as the Poor Man's Paul Newman Daytona. However, in this case, the poor man is still far more wealthy than most people in the world, as they fetch around $10,000 to this day.
Leaked today is a modern day equivalent of the Tudor Monte Carlo, and it is an absolute knockout! In this words of an esteemed (nameless) colleague and authority, "the Tudor historic lines steals the show!". We tend to agree, when you look at the nice but completely expected and almost required refreshes of the Rolex Submariners and Explorer.
This new Monte Carlo is absolutely perfect, and it does the original a great service by imitating but not copying the looks that made it so famous. Sized at 42mm (perfect), this chronograph even has a rotating bezel and comes on a NATO strap!!
Price is expected to be a totally reasonable 4000CHF. In our opinion, if Tudor is going to make a push into the US, this is the watch to lead the way.
By the way, if you feel like picking up an original, we've got you covered.
More pics after the jump.
